Train Safety Instruction
Emergency Button
Location: At each end of the compartment, beside the vestibule sliding door
- In the case of emergency (such as fires, passenger injuries and so on), use the "Emergency Button" by lifting the protective cover and pressing the RED button to talk to the train crew.
- Please inform the train crew the situation of the emergency, the car number, and the seat number after connecting.
- Emergency use only. Improper use of the emergency bottom will be punishable by law.
- If passengers need any assistance in the case of a non-emergency, please contact the Car six.
Emergency Escape Ladder
Location: Located in the vestibule area at each end of all cars.
- In the case of emergency, please follow the direction of train crews.
- In an emergency stop, pull to break cover and open the toolbox to remove the ladder.
- Following the instructions, have the emergency escape ladder set up as a safe walkway, then get off sequentially.
- Safety device for the emergency escape ladder shall not be arbitrarily removed. If the emergency escape ladder is unusual, please inform the train crew.
Door
- The door is operated by the conductor. Please do not open the door by yourself, and do not block the train doors by your hands, bodies or luggage.
- If an obstacle is detected or a passenger is blocked, the door will stop closing and will reopen.
- If the bag strap or clothing are pinched by doors, please press the emergency call to inform the conductor.
- Trains will depart when all doors are closed properly. If doors do not close properly, please inform the train crew.
Portable Fire Extinguisher
Location: Located in the vestibule area at each end of all cars.
- In the case of fire, please open the cover, unfasten the strap, and pull outward to remove the fire extinguisher. Put out a fire following the instructions on the fire extinguisher.
- Please notify the train crew immediately with the emergency call.
- Safety device for the portable fire extinguisher shall not be arbitrarily removed.
- If the portable fire extinguisher is found missing or being removed, please inform the train crew.
Emergency Door Release Handle
Location: Inside of each door.
- In the case of emergency, please follow the direction of train crews.
- In an emergency stop, pull to break cover, operate handle, and open the door manually.
- For emergency use only.
- Vandals will be prosecuted.
Emergency Exit Window and Hammer
Location: Each car has six emergency hammers. An emergency hammer is also installed beside the vestibule sliding door. The emergency exit window is beside the emergency hammer.
- In the case of emergency, please follow the direction of train crews.
- In the case of emergency, please use the hammer to break the glass by hammering at all corners of the glass pane. Once the glass is broken, the window can be used as an emergency exit for evacuation.
- An emergency hammer is a safety device in the train. Vandals will be prosecuted.
Fire and Smoke Detector
Location: Each car and each toilet have a fire and smoke detector. When smoke or fire is detected, the fire alarm will be started.
- No smoking in the THSR stations and trains.
- If the smoke and fire detector operated caused by smoking or being broken, vandalisms will be prosecuted.
Call-for-Aid
Location: Located in the accessible seats and disabled toilets.
- Please press the yellow button to call the train crew.
Attention
- The coat hook installed at the side wall of the car supports up to 2 Kg, and the back table supports up to 10 Kg. Be careful not to overload while using the units.
- Luggage should be placed on the luggage rack or large luggage room. Do not place the luggage in the walkways, car doors, entrance gates and so on, so as not to obstruct escape routes.
- Hold the handrail provided on the chair or the door. Do not lean on the door or the entrance gate.
- Do not put your hands on the door and the crack.

Walkie-talkie | There are three walkie-talkies in the train. Two are at the both ends of the cockpits. One is in the conductor chamber. This kind of units provides the driver, the control center, maintenance base, the station, and the conductor to communicate. |

Emergency Exit Window | Each car has three Emergency Exit Windows at one side. Fire and Smoke Detection Systems | Fire and smoke detection systems are installed in the chassis of the train, in the cars, and in the cockpits.When a fire or smoke are detected by the systems, the fire alarm and the instructions of prevention will start. |
Portable Fire Extinguisher | In the case of an emergency, 28 sets of portable fire extinguishers are located in the train: Each car has 2 sets; the conductor room in the Car 6, broadcasting room and each of the train cockpits has one set. |
Emergency Ventilation Systems | In addition to air conditioning systems, emergency ventilation fans are placed at both ends of each car. When the train power outage occurs, the emergency ventilation systems will provide air circulation at least 30 minutes by batteries to ensure the basic air quality inside the cars. |
Smoke Mask/Fire-resistant Glove | Smoke masks, fire-resistant gloves, emergency hammers, flashlights, flags, are placed at the cockpits for emergency use. |
Emergency Escape Ladder | Once passengers need to get off the train in the non-platform area, the emergency escape ladders can be used due to the height difference between the car and the ground is more than one hundred and thirty centimeters. |
Door | Warning bells will remind passengers before the doors are closed.If the doors detect obstacles while closing, it will automatically reopen. For accidents prevention, if the door is not closed properly, protective measures will prohibit the departure of the train. |
